| Bio | Multi-award-winning, children’s author, short story writer and freelance writer and Victoria’s inaugural library ambassador Andrea Rowe has been widely published. She’s also the founder and life member of Peninsula Writers Club>
Andrea is a best-selling, award-winning author of:
– 2022 CBCA Picture Book of the Year – Early Childhood – Jetty Jumping – 2023 Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year – 5-8yo’s – Jetty Jumping – 2024 Notable CBCA Picture Book of the Year – Early Childhood – In the Rockpool – 2025 Notable CBCA Picture Book of the Year – Early Childhood – Amid the Sand Dunes – 2026 Notable CBCA Picture Book of the Year – Early Childhood – Castle Crashing – As well as many that have rights sold internationally or have had numerous reprints including Sunday Skating, Dogs with Jobs and Audrey Skips – Andrea’s manuscript The Everyday Tutu was acquired for the prestigious Little Hare illustrator prize which is released in 2026 – Her writing features in the Teacher, Teacher anthology with Affirm Press.
Many of Andrea’s books have had rights sold internationally.
Andrea is also the Winner of Hal Porter Short Story Award, Mulga Bill Writing Award and Newcastle Short story award. Andrea was awarded the prestigious May Gibbs Fellowship for 2024, the Writer on the Reef Residency in 2026, and the Neilma Sidney Literary Travel Fund in 2026. Andrea has also been a past Writer in Resident at Mornington Peninsula’s Police Point in 2022. She has represented Australian children’s authors at the 2025 Sharjah Children’s Literature Festival in the UAE and 20026 Bologna Children’s Book Fair, Italy.
A passionate advocate for contemporary Australian literature, Andrea’s was the founding ‘author-in-conversation’ host with Sorrento’s Antipodes Books, founding President of Peninsula Writers’ Club and the founders of the Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor’s Short Story Writing Award. She is also the 2026 founding committee author representative for the Melbourne Children’s Book Festival.
Andrea has been a featured Public Libraries Victoria Big Summer Reads author, a Premiers Reading Challenge author across all states, has appeared on StoryBox Hub as an author storytellers and is a Books In Homes Role Model.
Beyond her children’s literacy and community achievements, Andrea’s written speeches for Ministers and advertising campaigns, feature travel articles, award submissions, websites, newsletters and production scripts and the editor and content writer for several respected Australian not-for-profit newsletters, kids club communications and blogs. |
