Bio

I’m an award-winning Mornington-Peninsula author, with a solid career of writing with influence across a variety of mediums. I’ve been ‘writing and moonlighting’ for as long as I can remember. Whether it’s writing the first draft of a shiny new story, or helping other writers polish their own works, there’s nothing I like better than fiddling around with words.

My genre-mashing fiction for children and adults has won, been shortlisted for, and honourably mentioned for numerous awards and prizes including three Australian Shadows Awards, an Aurealis Award, two Ditmar Awards, and the Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor’s Writing Award. . To date, my publications include three  middle grade novels, a short story collection, and over sixty short stories, poems, and articles in numerous Australian and international anthologies, journals, and magazines.

From professional copy writing and SEO-rich content writing to freelance articles, academic writing, copy editing and proofreading, I’ve been word wrangling on a professional level for years; however, my true passion lies in storytelling. I’m equally passionate about sharing my skills and knowledge, and after several years of mentoring beginner writers and helping emerging writers achieve their creative dreams, in 2017 I launched StoryCraft Creative Writing Workshops for aspiring writers of every age and ability.

I actively engage in various writing communities and share the supportive, nurturing, and professional ethos they embrace. I’ve served as a convenor and on the judging panel of nationally-recognised literary competitions, and delivered author talks and workshops at schools, literary festivals, libraries, and community centres, in both physical and online capacities.

And finally, as one of the Directors of the nationwide youth writing competition Little Stories, Big Ideas, I’m proud to help provide and promote a literary platform that allows ‘Generation Next’ to raise their literary vices and express their ideas and creativity about topics that matter to them.
