SECOND WORKSHOP NOW AVAILABLE
Our first workshop sold out in 24 hours - a first for our club - and we are thrilled to be able to offer a second workshop with award winning author, Christos Tsiolkas.
ABOUT CHRISTOS
Christos Tsiolkas is the author of the novels Loaded, The Jesus Man, Dead Europe, The Slap, Barracuda, Dead Europe, 7 1/2, and The In-Between, as well as the short story collection, Merciless Gods. Many of his novels and his stories have been adapted for the screen and for the stage. He has also published a monograph on Fred Schepisi's The Devil’s Playground for the Australian Screen Classic series and a monograph On Patrick White for the writers on Writers series. Christos is also a scriptwriter, essayist and playwright. He is the film reviewer for The Saturday Paper and a proud patron of Writers Victoria.
ABOUT OUR WORKSHOP
Character Development is an essential part of a writer’s craft, whether working on a short story, a novel or a memoir. Arguably, the ability to animate character is also essential in non-fiction, whether it is biography, history or long-form journalism. This half-day session will focus on the writing of voice to enhance character, on ways to write realistic and authentic dialogue, and on techniques that writers can use to make characters come alive in your imagination and then on the page.
FORMAT
This is an in-person half-day workshop.
Tea and coffee available, BYO own lunch or head to nearby cafes for catering in our break time.
