Jock Serong is the author of six novels, most recently Cherrywood in 2024, and was one of the founding editors of Great Ocean Quarterly. He writes for The Monthly, The Guardian, Surfing World and other publications. In addition to Cherrywood, Jock has produced five novels: Quota, The Rules of Backyard Cricket, On the Java Ridge, and the Bass Strait historical novels Preservation, The Burning Island, and The Settlement. He divides his time between Port Fairy in western Victoria and Flinders Island in Bass Strait’s Furneaux Island group.
